Pierre Deschamps, Lawyer Emeritus, McGill University Research Group on Health and Law
Pierre Deschamps graduated in Law from McGill University, after obtaining a degree in Religious Studies from the Université de Montréal. He was a member of the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal for 10 years and Research Director at McGill University’s Research Centre in Private and Comparative Law for more than 15 years. During those years, he also held an appointment as Assistant Professor in the University’s Faculty of Law, where he taught human rights and tort Law.
Mr. Pierre Deschamps serves on Research Ethics Boards at the Montreal Heart Institute and in the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. He is the principal author of the Report on Control Mechanisms in Clinical Research in Québec, also known as the Deschamps Report. In 2000, Mr. Deschamps was made a member of the Order of Canada for his voluntary work. He also received the Canadian Bar Association President’s Award, Quebec section.
