Alex has been a federal public servant for 28 years. He has been Health Canada’s National Director of Clinical and Border Compliance Programs for the last 9 years. In his current capacity he has been responsible for providing executive leadership in supporting, influencing regulatory program priorities including the delivery of large and complex national operations, namely clinical trial and biological products compliance as well as importation of health products at the Canadian border ports of entry. Under Alex’s leadership, important efforts are centred presently on modernizing the activities of the national Clinical Trial Compliance Program, ensuring that the transformation of the Program adopts a robust risk-based approach and that the Program is aligned with other foreign regulatory agencies. Alex has a strong educational background in Environmental Sciences. He holds a BSc/MSc. in Climate Change Science and he is well known as a dedicated triathlete.
