Alexandra Obadia is a lawyer and executive with over 25 years of experience in health research and genomics. She holds a master’s degree in law, Biotechnology, and Society, and has extensive experience in managing the legal, ethical, and operational aspects of health research.
She currently serves as Chief of Legal and Data Officer at CATALIS QUÉBEC, where she leads the legal and ethical operations of the network and contributes her expertise to optimize and streamline the processes, to accelerate the approval of clinical trials as well as access to data. Her work includes advising the government on the implementation of legislation related to health information, as well as the pharmaceutical industry, members of CATALIS QUEBEC, on access to health data in Québec.
Prior to joining CATALIS QUÉBEC, Alexandra was the CEO of CARTaGENE, Québec’s population biobank, for 17 years. In addition to managing operations, she developed and implemented informed consent models, standardized contract templates, as well as a governance framework that enabled the responsible collection and access to health and genomic data, and biological samples.
Her career reflects a commitment to advancing responsible health research, while innovating to achieve optimization and results, within existing legal and ethical frameworks.
