Moderator: Dan Sfera, The Clinical Trials Guru

Dan Sfera runs a clinical trial website called “The Clinical Trials Guru” where he discusses “Clinical Trials in Plain English” and helps individuals who work or are interested in working in this industry, understand the subject better while also raising general awareness on the topic. He interviews industry leaders and experts in order to share valuable content with his audience through these interviews. In addition, he partners with, consults, and advises for various clinical trial companies across the United States providing services such as study placement, assisting Sponsors and CRO’s with selecting appropriate research sites for clinical studies, patient recruitment at both the individual Site level as well as national campaigns, CRA training and placement, and business development.  He runs the Clinical Research Coordinator Academy. Dan completed his BSc at the University of Arizona in Molecular and Cellular Biology. Dan will be part of 2 panels: Getting into the Industry and Becoming a Research-Preneur.

Kyley Paul, CEO, NaturalSci Regulatory Consulting

Kyley has always been inspired by overall health, wellness, fitness and helping others achieve more. She graduated from Carleton University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology then graduated with Distinction from the Pharmaceutical Regulatory Affairs Program at Toronto Institute of Pharmaceutical Technology.  She worked as the Regulatory Affairs Coordinator for Jamieson Laboratories for over 3 years before founding NaturalSci Regulatory Consulting. At Jamieson, she was the lead on all domestic Regulatory activities for over 465 products.  Her goals include contributing to the success of the health innovation industry through support and propelling brands forward.

Jaspreet Grewal, CEO Knowde Group

Jaspreet Grewal is an accomplished clinician and researcher bringing over 15 years of experience to companies focused on medical cannabis and life sciences. She recently co-founded Knowde Group Inc.  Throughout her career, she has held various positions with increasing responsibilities in a variety of healthcare roles resulting in a broad skillset and robust healthcare and investment network while working in Canada, US, UK and Bermuda. Jaspreet holds a Masters in Clinical Vision Sciences from Georgetown University, an Executive Certificate in Public Health from Harvard University and recently completed her Executive MBA from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Her research interests have focused on Phase I through IV drug and device trials within ophthalmology, paediatrics, medical cannabis, natural health products, gastroenterology, pain and rehabilitation. She became CCRP certified in 2012 and is an active speaker at many research and regulatory conferences locally and internationally.

Amin Osmani, CEO, BioTech Square

Amin Osmani recently co-founded BioTech Square which supplies AI-guided Regulatory Strategies, and is the CEO/Co-Founder. Prior to that, Amin was Business Development Manager for ImmunXperts, a self-employed Business Development Consultant, Sales Manager for the Clinical Trial Company and Business Development Manager for MEDISCA.  Amin earned his BSc in Biology from McGill University and his MSc in Biology from Concordia University as well as graduate courses in Business Administration and Management from McGill. He has been volunteering with CRAC since 2018.  Amin will speak on the panel for Becoming a Research-Preneur.

Kim McDonald-Taylor, Director, McDonald-Taylor Consulting.

Kim McDonald-Taylor, MSc, CRPC operates a clinical consultancy, McDonald-Taylor Consulting, where her passion for her clients’ projects results in exceeded expectations for her training, project management, medical writing, teaching, meeting facilitation and strategic planning.  Kim has worked in the clinical trials area for 30 years, including her 12-year tenure with Endpoint Research holding positions such as VP Operations and Managing Director of Canada.   Kim has volunteered with the Clinical Research Association of Canada (CRAC) for the past 18 years.  In her various roles, including President, Kim has provided leadership as CRAC went online, helped develop a certification program (CRPC) and continues to recommend quality speakers for the membership on topics of importance in Canadian clinical research.  She is also on the Board of Directors for Brain Injury Canada where she volunteers as secretary and was named Volunteer of the Year for 2016.  Kim earned her MSc in toxicology from the Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph.  She has presented and co-chaired sessions at DIA, DIA Canada, ACRP and other meetings over the past 15 years
