Dr. Nathalie Charland, Ph.D.,  joined Medicago in 2004. As Senior Director of Scientific & Medical Affairs, she oversees the coordination of scientific communications and the establishment of partnerships with the scientific community. Dr. Charland leads the Medical Science Liaison team and is also the head of the Portfolio Development Committee, a committee in charge of expanding the product pipeline.

Following her post-doctoral studies in vaccinology supported by a Medical Research Council fellowship at Laval University, she worked for six years in the vaccine industry (Biochem-Pharma, Shire Biologics, ID Biomedical and GlaxoSmithKline), holding scientific and management positions before joining Medicago. She is the co-discoverer of a protein-based pneumococcal vaccine and worked on the development of several bacterial vaccines.

Dr. Charland received a M.Sc. in veterinary pathology and microbiology, and a Ph.D. in microbiology and immunology, both from the University of Montreal (Canada).
